plants make it cooler

hello melting friends

hopefully you are all surviving this ridiculously hot weather! we are going to brave the morning heat tomorrow to plant some lovely donations from The Sprout Home in our Bogart Garden, and check out how our tomatoes are faring in this heat. More foliage and shade equal a cooler climate, so come on out tomorrow, Sunday July 25th @ 11am at the Community Garden on Bogart @ Mckibbin and help do your bit for the environment. Bushwick definitely needs all the help we can give it to cool off! We’ve also got a hose, and a sprinkler!

See you tomorrow, troopers!

Spring has Sprung! Garden on SATURDAY!

greetings gardeners!

Here is an update from our Volunteer Coordinator Matt Lorenz:

i was at the Community Garden [on Bogart @ McKibbin] yesterday and the bulbs are poking up, buds are popping out, and general springiness is afoot.  let’s take advantage of the season and get in there to do some much needed maintanance, shall we?  spring is afoot and seems to be calling us… also, the tree planter benches on bogart (near the shops) need some structural help and repopulating with foliage, and the bogarten is filled with fresh bags of mulch, donated plants and assorted shrubbery that can start getting planted. So come one come all and let’s get the ball rolling..bring a friend or two, get your green thumbs dirty with us!

Since the weather forecast seems to favor Saturday with much sun, Matt and crew will be out on BOGART STREET (outside the Archive Cafe, etc) from noon until 2 or 3pm on SATURDAY, MARCH 20th.  Matt will be bringing the tools to effect repairs to the benches, and there is fresh shrubbery to plant as well.
thanks gardeners!
