community spaces bike tour

hello friends

we’ll be in the garden a little later this Sunday to do some more planning on the garden car. We have but 2 weeks to get our car + materials together so we’re moving full steam ahead! we have a break down of materials needed and design – we need all sorts to pitch in, especially graffiti artists, painters, welders and car jackers.  And bandits. If you are curious about how to make a garden car check out this video courtesy of vancouver design nerds: http://vancouverdesignnerds.wikispaces.com/Car+Park

So, let’s meet SUNDAY, September 27th at 3pm in the garden at bogart @ mckibbin – the Putting Lot’s community spaces bike tour will be dropping by to check out the garden! the fine folks from bushwick’s only miniature golf course  are cruising around the neighborhood on sunday to check out spaces that are being used for good not evil! check out the info on the poster below and if you want tojoin them they are kicking off at 3pm at Myrtle Ave and Ryerson St. they will be rolling by the community garden at 5.15 and ending up ar The Putting Lot, 12 Wyckoff Ave, Refreshments Provided!

Jane Jacobs Garden Car!

Fellow Conspirators

Please meet SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13TH @ 1pm at the community garden on bogart @ mckibbin for GARDEN CAR MEETING! (if the weather is rainy we will meet in the ARCHIVE CAFE @ 49 bogart instead)

Trees Not Trash is teaming up with Streets are for People! in Toronto, a fab group who use humour and art to get the message out to fellow urbanites that another city is possible (see www.streetsareforpeople.org). Streets are for People! will be coming to NYC to present at the Walk 21 conference and are working together with Trees not Trash to build a Jane Jacobs commemorative garden car – a dead car turned into a planter (please see attachments).

this is an exciting endeavor that will require many allies and lots of hands on deck to bring to fruition in short time.  Do you or others you know want to collaborate on this project?  Community involvement and know-how is crucial in making this tribute to Jane Jacobs be the most that it could be. Come Sunday and get involved!

in the meantime…the Bushwick Library needs you!

Friends,

While our Jane Jacobs garden car is in the works, another project is still on the go and Matt from TNT would love for you to help out! Matt is heading up the Trees Not Trash festivities this weekend, but will be rocking it out on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th instead of our usual Sundays (the reason for this is cause the library is closed on Sundays ;)

We have another big donation from The Sprout Home in Wililamsburg (www.sprouthomebrooklyn.blogspot.com) and it’s going to the library! Please meet Matt @ The Bushwick Public Library (340 Bushwick Ave. at Seigel St.) on Saturday, Sept.5th @ 1pm. Bring your shovels and your garden gloves, friends!

And please contact Kate about the Jane Jacobs garden car project if you would like some more information!

Cheers, green ears!
