• Grant-writing
Not the funnest task in the universe, unless you’re really good at it, and then it’s a breeze. This is an essential part of being a nonprofit organization, and a really useful skill to have.
• Fundraising/Donations
Raising money is the biggest challenge for any nonprofit. In the past we’ve raised money by holding benefit shows, and silkscreening and selling tshirts. If you have ideas and think you can contribute, or you just want to help out, let us know! Donations of tools, soil, plants, gloves, garbage bags, wood, nails, etc, etc are ALWAYS needed. Furthermore, we are trying to get a vehicle donated that we can convert to biodiesel and turn into the green TNT mobile for donation pickups! If you can charm your way into some donations, speak up!
• Legal help
Interning at a law firm? Have a family member in the law field? Know a rad organization that does pro bono work? Every nonprofit needs legal representation!
• Letter writing
An ongoing and incredibly important job–we write letters and place phone calls to the city (311) and the various departments (Dept. of Sanitation, etc) to request NYC litter baskets in Bushwick, get illegal garbage picked up, install street lamps, get speed humps installed…the list goes on. Got a knack for being persistent and figuring out how to get all these things accomplished efficiently and effectively? Let us know!
